HOW DO I GET SPONSORED?

First try and get started with your regional shop and build up a local recognition. Getting sponsored by a shop can sometimes lead to a local rep sponsorship. A local dealer will have the connections to help you get sponsorship if you are good enough. It also helps if you have a resume of contest results, other possible sponsors and a video of your riding to send to the distributor in your country. You can find all our distributors on the Find A Distributor page. Do not be discouraged if your request is denied for sponsorship. All it means is that you have some better riding inside that has yet to be discovered. Continue to work on your riding in the areas that you like most. Eventually, hard work and tons of riding will be noticed, and hopefully you will be a step closer.

Helmets

HOW DO I MAKE SURE MY HELMET FITS PROPERLY?

To work properly, a helmet must fit right and be worn properly. In order to offer you the best value and fit possible, TSG makes helmets in many sizes.

Step 1: Measurement
In order to determine the size you need, you can measure the circumference of your head with a tape measure. Place the tape measure slightly above the ear and bring it across the mid forehead completely circling the head about 1 inch above the eyebrows. If you do not have a tape measure, use a string and measure it against a ruler. The chart linked below will assist you on which size is the best helmet fit. If a measurement falls in between a size, go up to the larger size. Once you’ve determined the proper size, you can check to make sure the helmet fits correctly.

You should always wear the helmet positioned low enough in the front to protect your forehead, but not so low that it hinders your vision. Once you’ve got a helmet that is the right size, and positioned it properly, you can adjust the fit as follows.

 TSG Helmet size chart

Step 2: Adjusting the fit pads
The helmet fits correctly when it is held firmly but comfortably in place by the interior fit pads. The fit pads inside the helmet are held in place by hook and loop fasteners. You can use any combination of the different thickness pads provided with the helmet until the helmet fits firmly and comfortably on your head.

Step 3: Adjusting the Dial Fit System
Your helmet may come with a Dial Fit System attached to the helmet liner by snap-fit anchors. To adjust the fit and stability system while the helmet is on your head, turn it clockwise to tighten the fit or counterclockwise to loosen it. Be sure to check the adjustment of your helmet before each ride. The Dial Fit System is designed to enhance the fit and stability of your helmet. It is not a replacement for your helmet’s straps.

Step 4: Adjusting the straps
Put the helmet on and slide the straps through the adjusters until they are located comfortably under your ears, making sure there is no slack in any of the straps. The front and rear straps should now join at a point slightly below your ears.

Step 5: Adjusting the chinstraps and buckle
Fasten the chinstrap buckle and tighten the straps until the helmet fits snugly. How snugly? You should be able to open your mouth wide enough to eat. Make sure the chinstrap is well back against the throat, NOT on the point of the chin. Straps worn on the point of the chin increase the chance of a helmet coming off in an accident. Make sure the loose ends of the strap pass through the rubber O-ring near the buckle. If it does not, the strap may slide loose and the helmet can come off accidentally. Always wear the helmet with the chinstrap buckle fastened and the strap pulled tight.

Step 6: Checking the fit
Once you think the proper fit has been achieved, grab the helmet with both hands and twist it to the left and to the right. If the helmet fits properly, the skin on the forehead will move as the helmet moves. If it does not, the helmet is too loose. Also, grab the helmet with both hands and try to remove it by rolling the helmet forward and backward as far as you can. Make a serious effort. THIS IS IMPORTANT. If you can roll it off the head completely in either direction, roll it forward so far that it blocks vision, or backward far enough to expose the forehead, it doesn’t fit correctly. If you cannot adjust the helmet to fit properly according to these instructions, DO NOT USE THIS HELMET. Replace it with a different size or model. Once you are satisfied that the helmet fits correctly and that all straps are properly adjusted and tightened, take a short test ride. Pay attention to overall comfort and helmet stability while riding. Make any minor adjustments to the fit pads, straps and stability systems to improve comfort or stability.

WHAT KIND OF WARRANTY DOES MY HELMET COME WITH?

All TSG products are manufactured according to the highest quality standards and are subject to strict, in-house inspections which often exceed any legal requirements. Should your product have defects in spite of these precautions, contact your appropriate TSG dealer with your warranty claims (legal warranty period as of 2013: 2 years) and repair requests. If you are unable to get in touch with your original TSG dealer, you may contact us directly by emailing the WARRANTY FORM below to warranty@ridetsg.com

Please note that a copy of your sales receipt is required for the verification of your request.

Damage due to misuse, abuse, accidents, neglect, normal wear and tear, theft or damage caused by anything other than defect in materials and workmanship are not covered by the warranty policy.

What is wear and tear? Nothing lasts forever, even though we wish it could! Products exposed to the elements and used frequently can show wear and tear faster than those used less frequently. Your product may simply have reached the end of its practical lifetime.

If your claim is accepted as warranty, your TSG product will be repaired or replaced, at TSG’s option, free of charge when received at the factory freight prepaid, together with proof of purchase.

HOW CAN I OBTAIN REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR MY TSG HELMET?

Please contact your local dealer or distributor concerning replacement parts.
You can purchase some replacement parts, such as helmet pad sets, street earpads, visors and cheek pads at ridetsg.com or ask your local dealer to order them for you.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE I AM?

In order to determine the size you need, you can measure the circumference of your head with a tape measure. Place the tape measure slightly above the ear and bring it across the mid forehead completely circling the head about 1 inch above the eyebrows. If you do not have a tape measure, use a string and measure it against a ruler. Our Size Guide will assist you. If a measurement falls in between a size, go up to the larger size.
Visit the TSG Size Guide

CAN I PAINT MY HELMET OR PUT STICKERS ON IT?

TSG does not recommend paints or solvents of any kind be used on the helmets. They can damage a helmet so that its protective capabilities are significantly reduced.
A lot of riders put sticker son their helemts. In generel it won't harm the helmet materials, But please note that the helmet will lose its warranty.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD A HELMET BE REPLACED?

Helmets have a limited life span in use and should be replaced every 3-5 years under normal use conditions, but at the latest after 6 years from date of manufacture (see product label). If you know or suspect that your helmet has been damaged or exposed to any abnormal force, destroy and replace it. Please dispose of it in an environmentally-friendly manner.

You could aslo upcycle your helmet be turning it into a hanging garden as seen from the Kids at Skateistan in Combodia.

HOW DO I STORE MY HELMET?

After each use, allow the helmet to air dry and then store it in a cool, dry place where it won’t get damaged. Note that excessive heat can damage your helmet. For example, in direct sunlight a dark gear bag, the interior of a car, or an automobile trunk can get hot enough to cause heat damage (damaged helmets will appear to have uneven or bubbly surfaces). Therefore, when not being used for a period of time we recommend that the helmet be stored in a cool, dry place.

Please do not leave your ski or MTB goggles on the helmet for a long time after use. Dark colours of the face foam could stain with lighter helmets and leave a discolouration on the helmet surface. This can happen because moisture and sweat can be very aggressive. We only use environmentally friendly water-based paints.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY HELMET?

Wipe only with a soft damp cloth in gentle soap or mild detergent in cold water, rinse by wiping with a soft cloth damped in cold water and dry with a soft cloth. Comfort padding can be removed, and hand washed and air dried. Common substances applied to this product (solvent, cleaners, hair tonics, paint, adhesives etc.) can cause damage that may be invisible to the user and compromise the effectiveness/safety of your TSG helmet.

CAN MY HELMET RESIST MULTIPLE IMPACTS?

All our helmet impact liners are made of a light, but stiff foam material called EPS foam. This protective liner is meant to condense, break, crack or fracture upon sustaining one moderate to heavy impact, so that your skull doesn't have to! Your helmet does not resist multiple heavy impacts. You should replace your helmet after one single severe impact. You might find helmets with a material liner called EPP, that is meant to be a multi-impact foam. The reason why we do not use EPP is that it requires a thicker helmet than one using EPS. But most important nobody can tell you how safe your helmet is after an impact and how many more impacts it resists. The rebound characteristic of EPP is not well documented and it comes with a great amount of uncertainty. Uncertainty should be avoided when producing safety gear, this is why our helmets resist one single heavy impact and need to be replaced afterwards.

CAN I USE MY TSG HELMET FOR VARIOUS ACTION SPORTS?

Each TSG helmet is certified for specific activities and should only be used for those sports. All TSG bike and skate helmets are for biking and skateboarding only. Winter helmets can be used for skiing and snowboarding. Our wake helmet can be used for wakeboaridng, kitesurfing, canoeing and white water sports.

WHAT DO I DO IF MY HELMET BECOMES DAMAGED?

Helmets don’t last forever. Your helmet is designed to absorb shock by partial destruction of the energy absorbing liner. If the helmet is visibly damaged (cracked outer shell, crushed or cracked foam liner or any other damage) don’t use it. Some or all of the helmet’s protective capacity is used up when impacted, and the damage to a helmet is not always visible. Therefore, if subjected to a severe impact or blow, you should replace your helmet even if it appears undamaged.

HOW DOES TSG IMPLEMENT SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE AND CLIMATE-FRIENDLY PRODUCTION?

Although our products are produced in China, we know our production facilities and visit them at least twice a year. There we can always get a first-hand impression of the working conditions in the factory. Attention is paid to a healthy and socially acceptable working environment.

Unfortunately, we cannot rely on the sustainability of the materials themselves as much as we would like to. Recycled plastic unfortunately does not have the same properties as new plastic. Since we cannot compromise on safety, we only use new materials.

For this reason, we looked at the packaging many years ago and started to save resources here. Our helmet boxes and protective gear header cards (with the exception of some special models) are made of unpainted cardboard and without a plastic viewing window.

This is an on-going project and we are constantly defining how and where we can save resources.

I AM BETWEEN A SIZE, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

In this case it depends on your preferences.
If you like a helmet to fit super snug, then decide for the smaller size. If you like it to be a bit loose, take the larger size. Each half shell helmet is delivered with two sets in different thicknesses. Use them individually or combine them for an optimal and comfortable fit on the head.

Our Pass helmet is delivered with additional cheek pads’ inserts to adjust the thickness. If you want the cheek area to be tighter you can add the additional foam pad into the cheek pads. If the cheek area is too tight you can take out the installed foam pad and carefully cut it thinner. You could also purchase additional cheek pads in a larger size.

Sometimes Sometimes only the actual trying on can help. The head circumference is just a number that does not take into account whether you have a narrow but long head, or, for example, a wide forehead and a narrower back of the head.

Protection

WHAT IS THE RIGHT TSG PROTECTOR FOR MY USE?

We have a large selection of knee pads in our range, so it is not always easy to find the right product for your use. To make your choice a little easier, we have created range of use charts for Skateboarding, Biking and Kids. Click Range Of Use Charts

HOW TO TRY A PROTECTOR?

If you want your protection gear to work properly, make sure that it covers the protected area effectively. To obtain maximum protection and comfort, select the correct size and take care that the product fits tight to your body. Close all hook-and-loop fasteners and other fasteners carefully to prevent unwanted slipping and ensure maximum comfort. To obtain maximum adherence to the protected area, the product must be worn underneath the clothing.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY PROTECTOR?

The impact foam of protective gear could be damaged by washing. This is why you find a non-washing icon on your product label. If your TSG product features fully removable foam, you can hand wash your protection AFTER the impact foam has been removed. Hook and loop fasteners, where fitted, can be cleared of debris using a nail brush. If the guard components have become soiled in use, wipe the surface with a damp cloth. Use a soft brush, damped in water, to clean the perforations in the components. Only use tap water. Never use cleaners or detergents, or launder the guards, the product will be damaged by the cleaning process and chemicals and the level of protection provided severely reduced. Common substances applied to this product (solvent, cleaners, hair tonics, etc.) can cause damage that may be invisible to the user and compromise the effectiveness/safety of your TSG product.

HOW DO I STORE MY PROTECTOR?

Place your TSG product on a clean, dry surface and store in a dry, well-ventilated environment away from direct sunlight and extremes of temperature. Keep it away from temperatures below 5°C and above 50°C.  We recommend that the product should not be left outside or exposed to low temperatures before use. Do not place heavy objects on top of your TSG product as this can damage the fabrics and plastic materials. The protection provided by your TSG product should not be affected by non-extreme ambient temperature and weather conditions.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE PROTECTOR?

When choosing the right protector size, follow the body measurement guidelines as indicated in our size guide. Refer to the charts to find the perfect fit. But please keep in mind that the indications are guidelines only and can slightly differ depending on individual body anatomies. Visit the TSG size guide.

Goggles

How should I clean and store Goggles?

Lenses can be damaged by many common cleaners and materials. For best results, clean lenses using a soft cloth to remove fingerprints and smudges. If they’re dirty you can use warm water and mild soap (such as a mild dish soap) to remove the dirt, then allow the lenses to dry before wiping them clean with a cloth. After each use, clean the lenses carefully and then store in a cool, dry place, preferably in the bag or case they come with.

Please do not leave your goggles on the helmet for a long time after use. Dark colours of the face foam could stain with lighter helmets and leave a discolouration on the helmet surface. This can happen because moisture and sweat can be very aggressive. We only use environmentally friendly water-based paints.

WHAT IS UV RADIATION, AND HOW IS IT HARMFUL TO THE EYES?

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is electromagnetic energy. The wavelengths of this energy are outside of the visible light spectrum. UVA rays are primarily absorbed within the lens of the human eye. It is hazardous to your eyes because it has a cumulative effect, which means that any damage it causes is irreversible. UVB rays burn your skin and can damage your eyes. Combined with cold wind and snow, UVB has the potential to cause snow blindness, cataracts, and other nasty stuff that will end your fun! UVC is harmful too, especially to the cornea region of the eye, but it most of it is absorbed by the earth’s atmosphere before it can reach your eyes. All TSG eyewear provides 100% UVA/UVB/UVC protection up to 400nm.
