David Habluetzel

Born near Zurich, in 1996, David Habluetzel would become one of the most recognised Swiss freestyle snowboarders ever. As the oldest of five siblings he had to fight his way onto a board as his parents were keen for him to ski but aged 6 he finally got his way and board sports became raison d'être. Skate and surf also rank high on his list of passions, along with an outdoor life, hanging with close friends and family and travelling. When he was 9, David discovered Laax’s Freestyle Academy, where he made many friends, and in 2008 he began competing as a junior on the TTR World Series. Two years later, he podiumed at the Laax Burton European Junior Open, with further successes following, including a slopestyle bronze at the 2012 Olympic Winter Youth Games, in Kühtai, Austria. In 2012, he was accepted into the Sportgymnasium Davos and the Swiss Snowboard Pro Team and moved to the mountains, becoming part of the world’s halfpipe elite. He would go on to win 3rd at the 2014 US Open, 5th at the 2014 Olympics, 5th at the 2015 X-Games Aspen and 3rd at the Burton European Open in 2015 and 2016. What defines David’s style is that he can dial tricks in all directions, as well as regular and switch and does it all from the heart: “When I strap on a snowboard and go shred, no matter what terrain, I forget everything around me.
